Important point to note:
  1. The Terminal Window is used for connecting to VSNL by typing commands. Here you will be entering the login name (Username), password and the protocol (ppp).

  • Also, if you are using a Null Modem Script, you need to enter the dial string. the dial string is usually like ATDT2635000 In case you have a touch tone telephone or ATDP2635000 if you have Pulse telephone.

  • The Terminal window is also helpful in creating your connect script which automates your process of dialing and connecting to the VSNL server.

  • Now you are ready and almost there. Please read the information carefully and also check out the images which are in the links. Click the links and images will open in a new window. They help a lot in understanding your configuration.

    1. To access the Terminal window you have to press the connect button from PPP Control Panel. Refer to that page if you have not done so, before reading on.

    2. The first thing you do here before typing in your Username and Password etc. is click on the Settings button. This will bring up the PPP Terminal Settings dialogue box.

    3. Leave the first check mark as "Close Terminal when PPP is started".

    4. Switch on the second check mark " Prompt to save Connect Script on close".

    5. After you have switched on the above check marks close the Settings dialogue box and its time for you to enter the Username, Password and the protocol i;e. ppp.

    6. As soon as you hit the last "return" key after entering "ppp" in the last prompt, the terminal will complete the connection and connect you to the VSNL server. Then you will be asked to save the connect script. Give it a name and save it. You must save the script with an easy name like NetConnect or some thing like that. Save it at a convenient location like the Desktop. It easier to find it as you will not need it many times and will like to delete it after using it once. The terminal window will close automatically.

Time now for you to launch your favorite browser and check that the connection is working. After your first connection quit the browser and go to the PPP Control Panel again. This time you will be using the Connect Script to automate your connection process.

Click here to go on to the Automation.
